WATER TOWER SERIES//NT TRAVELLING FILM FESTIVAL//26.08.2021
Fingerspitzengefühl is a projection-based public artwork developed for the NT Travelling Film Festival’s Water Tower Series. Through animated collage and site-responsive composition, the work explores the relation between projected image and architectural surface, allowing the contours, texture, and scale of the tower to shape the image’s appearance.
The title invokes tact, sensitivity, and touch, qualities that are echoed in the work’s attention to the meeting point between image and surface. Projection becomes a tactile form of inscription, even as it remains temporary and light-based.

Research Relation
Within the broader project, Fingerspitzengefühl extends the investigation of the surface as a materially active threshold. Like Botanicals, it demonstrates that projection is not simply representation cast outward, but a relational event in which image and support transform one another.
The work contributes to the development of the project’s concept of between-surfaces, showing how meaning emerges through the friction between image, architecture, scale, and site.
